Colchester Zoo

Colchester Zoo is one of the best zoos I have visited (I have tried at least ten in the UK and abroad!) as there is so much to do as well as see. You can get really close to several animals, feed elephants, giraffes and lorikeets, go on the train, use one of the many play areas, or watch a show. It is fantastic value for money and well worth the extra travel time. It is about 40 miles from Bury St Edmunds, and takes about an hour to get there. 

ADMISSION PRICES
Prices start at £13 for an adult and £10 for a child when purchased in advance and visiting at off-peak times. There is a discount if you visit during the week, and if you visit more than twice a year, it is worth getting a season ticket. For current admission prices, please visit their website here:

They are open every day from 9.30am except Christmas Day. Closing times vary according to season.
